Twenty plus years ago when I was a young Marine 0331 stationed out at Twenty Nine Palms aka The Stumps, we'd go out and do mixed gun firing sessions at the known distance range. One of the more "illuminating" fun things to do with all that free gum'mint ammo involved having E1s and E2s dismantle belts of .50 and reassemble them, made entirely of tracers. While likely not good for the barrels of the M2, they made night fire very fun!
As ever, watch your six and keep your head on a swivel!
